### 三　瞋怒八偈經

> Chapter 3: The Eight Verses on Anger Sutra

七八〇

> Seven hundred and eighty.

若人瞋怒語誹謗 妄信他人說真實牟尼不近誹謗語 牟尼到處無心荒

> If someone speaks in anger and slanders, And others foolishly believe it to be true, The Sage does not draw near to slanderous words, The Sage remains undisturbed wherever he goes.

> Seven hundred and eighty-one.

為欲所牽住意欲 云何可越自己見彼思所作自完成 其知之言所欲言

> Driven by desire, held captive by craving, How can one cross over their own views? They act according to their thoughts, fulfilling themselves, And speak what they know, saying what they wish.

> Seven hundred eighty-two.

未受他人之詢問 放言自修頭陀戒自言自己自慢者 善者稱此非聖法

> Without being asked by others, they proclaim their own ascetic practices. Boasting about themselves with pride, the wise say this is not the way of the noble ones.

> Seven hundred eighty-three.

比丘自修寂滅者 如是諸德我不誇世間煩惱無增盛 善者此稱為聖法

> The monk who cultivates tranquility and cessation, I do not praise such virtues in this way. Worldly afflictions do not increase or flourish; The wise call this the noble Dharma.

徧計不淨之諸法 重視造作諸人等以見自己之功德 依止虛幻緣妄見

> Those who dwell on impure things, And take pride in their own deeds, Rely on false views and illusions, Seeing only their own merits.

確知取著於諸法 越離執著實不易故人若有著彼等 放棄正法取諸法

> Truly knowing attachment to all things, yet letting go of attachment is truly not easy. Thus, if one clings to these, they abandon the true Dharma and grasp at all things.

於何世間除遣者 對諸有無徧計見捨斷諂慢除遣者 彼對輪迴無近著

> In what world is the one who dispels, Concerning all views of existence and non-existence? The one who abandons flattery and pride, who dispels, Has no attachment to the cycle of rebirth.

近著受諸法之語 不近著者不說語我與非我皆無有 遣除彼此一切見

> Those who are close to attachment speak of all phenomena. Those who are not close to attachment do not speak of them. Neither "I" nor "not-I" truly exist— thus all views of self and other are abandoned.
