### 四　淨八偈經

> Four. Sutra of the Eight Verses on Purification

七八八

我見第一無病淨 人依眼見得正淨若斯知解為第一 淨觀者由智而解

> I see the highest purity, free from all afflictions. One who relies on sight attains true purity. If such understanding is the highest, the one who sees purely comprehends through wisdom.

> Seven, eight, nine.

若依眼見人有淨 人又依智捨斷苦彼有依者以為淨 斯說彼實邪見者

> If one believes purity comes from what the eye sees, And then relies on wisdom to cut off suffering, That person, clinging to such a basis for purity, Is said to be truly holding a wrong view.

> Seven hundred and ninety.

聖道者外不見聞 於戒勤覺不言淨彼於善惡無染著 不行善惡捨自己

> The true path is not found in outward observances or rituals, nor in proclaiming one's own purity through strict vows or fervent practice. Those who walk it are not stained by good or evil, nor do they act for the sake of either. They simply let go of all self-concern.

捨去前師依後師 從貪之人著難度彼等放棄把執著 如猿握執面前枝

> Abandoning one teacher to follow another, Those attached to craving are hard to free. They give up one clinging only to grasp another, Like a monkey swinging from branch to branch.

> Seven hundred ninety-two.

自行受持之行人 著想與問至種種智者證知吠陀法 不至執著彼種種

> The practitioner who upholds the practice themselves, Engages with thoughts and questions of all kinds. The wise one, knowing the Dharma as it is, Does not cling to any of these kinds.

> Seven Nine Three

所有一切見聞覺 於一切相無執著何能於彼起疑惑 內觀世間得證悟

> All that is seen, heard, and perceived— hold no attachment to any appearance. How could doubt arise about this? Look within and awaken to the world.

> Seven Nine Four

諸漏盡者無分別 彼等不謂世究竟捨棄世間諸執取 不於何處作意欲

> Those whose defilements are exhausted make no distinctions; They do not claim anything in the world as ultimate. Having abandoned all attachments to the world, They form no desire or intention toward anything.

> Seven, nine, five.

漏盡超界婆羅門 知已見已無執取向貪無貪貪何離 彼無執取為第一

> The Brahmin who has ended all defilements and gone beyond, Having known and seen, holds to nothing. How could one who is free from greed be bound by greed? That one, holding to nothing, is supreme.
