Vasubandhu, active during the Gupta Empire period, was a prolific Mahayana Buddhist scholar and author, renowned for works such as the *Abhidharmakośa-bhāṣya* (Treasury of Higher Knowledge). He was also a significant translator of Buddhist scriptures.
