Buddhabhadra and Faxian were prominent monks during the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Buddhabhadra is known for translating the Avatamsaka Sutra (Flower Garland Sutra) into Chinese, while Faxian is celebrated for his pilgrimage to India and his translation of the Mahāsāṃghika Vinaya.
