Zhanran (湛然), a monk of the Tang Dynasty, was a prominent disciple of the Tiantai school. He authored the comprehensive commentary "Fahua Xuanyi Shiqi" (法华玄义拾遗), elaborating on the Tiantai master Zhiyi's profound interpretation of the Lotus Sutra.
