The monk and scholar Fazang (法藏), active during the Tang Dynasty, was a pivotal figure in the Huayan (Flower Garland) school. He is renowned for his commentaries on the Avatamsaka Sutra (Flower Garland Sutra), most notably his magnum opus, the *Commentary on the Stairway to the Ocean of Huayan Thought* (《華嚴經探玄記》).
