The monk and scholar Chengquan (澄观) was active during the Tang Dynasty. He is most famous for authoring the influential commentary on the Avatamsaka Sutra, the *Shu Fa Hua Jing* (疏法华经), also known as the *Yuan Ren Lun* (元人论).
