The scholar-monk Chengguan (738-839 CE) of the Tang Dynasty authored the *Yuanren Lu Shuzhu Jing* (Commentary on the Record of Originating Beings), a significant work clarifying the teachings of Huayan Buddhism. Song Jingyuan also produced a commentary related to this scripture.
