Yuan Liaofan (1533–1606) was a Ming Dynasty scholar and official best known for his personal memoir, the *Book of My Fate* (Yuan Liaofan Sishu), which recounts his transformation from a fatalistic believer to one who understood the power of good deeds to alter destiny. While not a translator of scriptures, his work is considered a significant exposition on the practical application of Buddhist principles for self-improvement and ethical living.
