### 與黃梧山

> With Huang Wushan

惟足下。夙植靈根。但今成熟未深。所賴信力堅固。不被諸煩惱魔之所傾動。時方息肩苦趣。正當頓轡先登。以䇿萬里高步。駕此津梁。不意天摧法幢。一旦分崩離析。遂至於此。朽夫法眼而觀。了無塵迹。所苦正在諸同志者。道力孱弱。失此依怙。為悲戀耳。朽夫雖朽。惟以利生為事業。若忘足下輩。則忘自願力耳。此語非妄。此行萬里。其別諸君語。遞相發明。幸同觀之。

> Dear friend, From your past lives, you have planted deep spiritual roots. However, the time for their full maturity has not yet arrived. What you can rely on now is the firmness of your faith—do not let it be shaken by the various afflictions and demons. Now is the moment to rest from the bitter paths and set out swiftly toward the summit. With determination, you must traverse this long journey, using this teaching as your bridge. Unexpectedly, the banner of the Dharma has been struck down, once standing firm, now scattered and broken—and so we find ourselves here. Through the eye of the Dharma, I see it clearly: there is not a speck of dust to be found. What pains me is that my fellow practitioners, whose strength on the path is still tender, have lost this support, and so they grieve and cling. Though I am old and worn, my only work is to benefit living beings. If I were to forget friends like you, I would be forgetting my own vow. These words are not spoken lightly. As I journey these ten thousand miles, these parting words to you all are offered for mutual reflection and understanding. May you read them together.
