> Biography of De Ying, a Nun from Jinghui Temple in Changzhou, Song Dynasty

德英，字真淨，楊億五世孫女。性聰慧，依達庵，有悟入。徑山佛照見其機辯如流，許為再來毒種。後說法於蘇州之朱明，委蛻於常州之淨慧。其自讚云：「自讚讚不出，自畫畫不成。有箇本來相，如何呈似人。活潑潑，本無生，鼻孔依然搭上唇。」叢林傳之，癡鈍跋其錄行世。

> Deying, also known as Zhenjing, was the fifth-generation granddaughter of Yang Yi. She possessed an innate intelligence and studied under Da’an, through which she attained profound insight. When the monk Fuzhao of Jingshan saw her sharp and fluid understanding, he praised her as a “reborn vessel of awakening.” Later, she taught the Dharma at Zhuming in Suzhou and passed away peacefully at Jinghui Temple in Changzhou. She once wrote of herself: “Self-praise falls short, Self-portraiture fails to capture. There is an original face— How can it be shown to others? Lively and vivid, It was never born; The nostrils still rest above the lips.” Her words were passed down among the monastic community, and the monk Chidun later compiled and published her records.
