Yuanren (圆仁), a monk of the Tang Dynasty, is renowned for his extensive travels and compilations in Japan, including his detailed travelogue, the *Sannihongoku-go-iiki* (三日日本国紀行), which documented his pilgrimage to Tang China and his experiences there. While not a translator of classical Buddhist scriptures in the traditional sense, his personal writings and the Buddhist texts he brought back to Japan significantly contributed to the propagation of Esoteric Buddhism in the country.
