Du Shun (557-645 CE) was a prominent monk of the Sui and early Tang dynasties, renowned as the first patriarch of the Huayan (Avatamsaka) school in China. He is primarily known for his commentaries on the Avatamsaka Sutra, rather than direct scriptural translations.
