Xuanzang, a Tang Dynasty monk, is renowned for his epic journey to India and his translation of numerous Buddhist scriptures, most notably the Heart Sutra. Song Dynasty scholar Yan Shou authored the Zongjing Lu, a comprehensive work on Buddhist doctrine. Ming Dynasty calligrapher Ming Yu transcribed various Buddhist texts.
