Day 1: Morning Prayer Recitation
未剏結之前鳴鐘集眾於大佛殿啟白祈禱誦大悲呪三七遍先呪沙水遶殿散花洒水撒沙次誦楞嚴呪一遍回向天龍三界州縣所屬地界業主前亡後化土境神明等訖僧眾且散。
Before the foundation-laying ceremony begins, the bell is rung to gather the assembly in the Great Buddha Hall. There, a proclamation is made, prayers are offered, and the Great Compassion Mantra is recited twenty-one times. First, blessed sand and water are prepared—chanting mantras over them. Then, circumambulating the hall, flowers are scattered, water is sprinkled, and sand is spread. Next, the Shurangama Mantra is recited once, and the merit is dedicated to the dragons and gods of the Three Realms, to the spirits and authorities of the prefectures and counties where the temple is located, as well as to the former landowners, those who have passed away, and the local earth deities. After these rituals are completed, the monastics disperse.
