### 四四、宋溫州淨居寺尼慧溫傳

> 44\. Biography of Nun Huiwen of Jingju Temple in Wenzhou, Song Dynasty

慧溫，鄉里不詳，辭親出俗，誓明大法。後參龍門清遠禪師，有悟，住溫州淨居寺。舉揚向上一著，參學者如水赴壑。上堂：舉「法眼示眾曰：『三通鼓罷，簇簇上來；佛法人事，一時周畢。』」溫曰：「山僧道：『三通鼓罷，簇簇上來。』拄杖不在，苕帚柄聊與三十。」

> Huiwen's origins are unknown. He left his family to become a monk, vowing to understand the great Dharma. Later, he studied under Chan Master Longmen Qingyuan and attained awakening. He resided at Jingju Temple in Wenzhou, where he expounded the ultimate teaching, attracting students like water flowing into a valley. During a Dharma talk, he cited Fayan's instruction to the assembly: "After three beats of the drum, all gather together; the Buddha's teachings and worldly affairs are all completed at once." Huiwen said, "This mountain monk says: 'After three beats of the drum, all gather together.' Since my staff is not here, I'll give you thirty strikes with this broom handle instead."
