### 八八、清白下某庵尼靜照傳

靜照，字月士，宛平曹氏女，為前明宮人。李自成犯闕，隨內監劉至白下。乙酉後，遂祝髮為尼，道念精純，為人所重。著宮詞百首，茲摭其六於下。「到面春風只自知，燕花牌子手中持。椒房領得金龍紙，勅寫先皇御製詩。一樹寒花冒雪開，幽香寂寂映粧臺。女官爭簇傳呼近，知是鸞宮選侍來。寶妝雲髻嚲金衣，嬌小豐姿傍玉扉。新入未諳宮禁事，低頭先拜段純妃。口勅傳宣幸玉熙，樂工先候九龍池。裝成傀儡新番戲，盡日開簾看水嬉。閱遍司農水旱書，君王減膳復齋居。御廚阿監新承旨，來日羹湯不進魚。儉德慈恩上古稀，他方織錦盡停機。赭黃御服重經瀚，內直才人著布衣。」

> Jingzhao, also known as Yue Shi, was a woman of the Cao family from Wanping. She served as a palace attendant in the late Ming dynasty. When Li Zicheng attacked the capital, she followed the eunuch Liu to Nanjing. After the year 1645, she shaved her head and became a nun. Her devotion to the Buddhist path was sincere and profound, earning her great respect. She composed a hundred palace poems, of which six are selected below: "The spring breeze brushes my face, known only to me, Holding the swallow-flower plaque in hand. From the imperial chambers, I receive golden dragon paper, To inscribe the poems composed by the late emperor." "A tree of cold flowers braves the snow to bloom, Their subtle fragrance lingers by the dressing mirror. The palace maids gather in haste, calling out, Knowing the imperial consort approaches for selection." "Adorned with cloud-like hair and golden robes, Her delicate grace stands by the jade door. New to the palace, unaware of its ways, She bows first to Duan Chunfei in reverence." "An oral decree summons joy to the Jade Pavilion, Musicians await by the Nine Dragon Pool. Puppets perform a newly crafted play, All day the curtains part to watch water games." "After reviewing reports of flood and drought, The emperor reduces feasts and observes fasts. The kitchen eunuchs receive new orders: Tomorrow, no fish shall be served in the broth." "Frugality and compassion, rare since ancient times, Weaving looms elsewhere all fall silent. The imperial yellow robes are washed again, And ladies of the inner court don simple cloth."
