### 九五、清桐鄉某庵尼德密傳

> Ninety-Five: Biography of Nun Demi from Qingtong Township Convent

德密，桐鄉人。夫故，即參內典誦佛書。一日，訪道叢林，叩問禪旨。某禪師示曰：「念佛者誰？爾試參之。人人有箇真如自性，凡愚日用而不知。汝於此能得究竟，是可已。」密晝夜靜參，一時領悟。住庵行化，四遠歸依，得其心要者凡若干人。年七十餘歲，無病坐化，踰日鼻垂玉箸，頂放白光，觀者如堵。

> Demì was from Tongxiang. After her husband passed away, she began studying Buddhist scriptures and reciting Buddhist texts. One day, she visited a monastery to seek the Way and inquired about the essence of Chan. A certain Chan master instructed her, "Who is it that recites the Buddha's name? Try to contemplate this. Every person possesses a true suchness, their original nature, yet ordinary people use it daily without realizing it. If you can fully grasp this, that will be enough." Demì contemplated in stillness day and night, and in time, she attained awakening. She lived in a hermitage, taught the Dharma, and people from far and wide came to rely on her. Many gained insight into the essential teaching from her. At over seventy years old, she passed away peacefully in seated meditation. The next day, a jade-like stream flowed from her nose, and a white light radiated from the crown of her head. Onlookers gathered like a wall to witness this.
